“Today I’m Psy!”: Foreign Students Enjoy K-Pop
A flash mob performed by college students from around the world
Korean cultural experiences at the International Summer Campus (ISC)
This summer saw university students from all over the world staging a large-scale flash mob at KU.
At noon on July 8th, foreign students participating in Korea University's International Summer Campus (ISC) joined together in a large-scale flash mob at Hana Plaza in KU’s SK Future Hall.
Around 150 students performed complex choreography to the song “That That” by famed K-pop artist Psy.
In a display of the worldwide reach of K-pop, these students from different continents and cultures united in sharing their passion for K-pop through moves they had practiced in their spare time.
This year's ISC, a summer program for domestic and international university students and international pre-college students, started on June 28th. The program has shown steady growth since its inception in 2004, establishing itself as Asia's largest international short-term education program.
This year, about 1,600 students from 300 universities in 62 countries including the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China participated in the program, which began on June 28th. The students take courses led by top faculty and participate in a wide range of Korean cultural experience workshops, such as ones on K-pop flash mobs, K-cooking, Nanta, and Taekwondo.
