Students from 28 countries work arm in arm to create a microcosmic global village in KU.

Korea University held the 2016 International Students’ Festival (ISF) on November 3rd at People’s Plaza, Anam Campus.

The festival was founded to promote understanding and exchange between different cultures. International students shared information about their countries, such as trends in studying abroad and traveling, food and other cultural activities. They set up stalls representing 28 countries from every region, namely Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Russia, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, England, Austria, Portugal, France and Hungary), Asia (Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, China–including Hong Kong–and the Philippines), Central and South America (Mexico, Peru and Chile), North America (the USA–including Hawaii–and Canada), Oceania (Australia) and Africa (Morocco).

Over 1,500 international students came together to organize national stalls featuring their own country’s food, traditional costume and culture, and to share knowledge about aspects of their educational systems. Students from different cultures gathered to communicate and exchange their experiences during the festival, in doing so learning more about other cultures. Some even took to the runway, showing off their traditional costumes during a Talent Show.

International students also held a flea market during the festival. Korea University Buddy Assistants (KUBA) sold items donated by students in the market, and they plan to give all the proceeds to UNICEF.
