The Times Higher Education and U.S. News & World Report recently released their global university rankings. Among universities in this country, Korea University was the only one with a business school within the top 100.

The ranking represents the recognition of KU's research achievements and global reputation.

Korea University Business School has demonstrated excellence in research and teaching on the world stage.

The British weekly magazine, Times Higher Education (THE), published its World University Rankings 2016-2017 by Subject. In the field of Business and Economics, KU Business School (KUBS) ranked 76th in the world. Korea University was the only third level institution in the country with a business school within the top 100, making it the leader among domestic universities in this field.

THE World University Rankings assessed universities around the world based on various performance indicators such as research reputation and productivity, staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-bachelor’s ratio, and international-to-domestic-student and international-to-domestic-staff ratios. The research and teaching reputation of the assessed universities was based on a survey that was circulated among scholars published by Elsevier, one of the world’s major academic publishers.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology topped the list, followed by Stanford University (2nd) and the University of Oxford (3rd).

Furthermore, KUBS also proved itself the top business school in the nation when the 2017 Best Global Universities Rankings were released recently by U.S. News & World Report.

In the field of Economics and Business, KUBS ranked 97th in the world. Again, it was the only university in Korea ranked within the top 100 in this field, putting it ahead of the competition among other universities in the nation.

The rankings, based on data collected during the most recent five-year period (2010-2014), focused specifically on the various schools' academic research and reputation. Detailed ranking indicators included total citations, level of international collaboration, global research reputation, and regional research reputation. The ranking firm drew on a pool of 1,262 universities from which the top 1,000 schools in the world were ranked.

Harvard University took first place on the list, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2nd) and the University of Pennsylvania (3rd).

Soo-young Kwon, Dean of Korea University Business School, responded with satisfaction to the results. “KUBS has been recognized as a world-class school in - recent global university rankings. We are proud to be the top business school in our country, too. To live up to our reputation, we will focus on educational innovation and diversification going forward.”
