The School of Art and Design won the Main Prize at the iF Design Award 2018, one of the most prestigious honors in the field.
Korea University’s Eulji-Road Project Design Team (Eunji Ko, Sojin Kim and Garam Park supervised by Professor Seung Hun Yoo) won the Main Prize at the iF Design Award 2018, beating out more than 6,400 competitors from 54 different countries.
Eulji-Road is the design of a mobile application that offers Location Based Service and Augmented Reality (LBS-AR). Through the application, users are able to make their own souvenirs from the materials available at shops on Eulji Road. Optimized user options are assisted by information on the shops, in a similar style to how users play games on their phones.
The team’s field study on the complicated alleys of the Eulji area for several months evolved into the design, which was praised by the judging panel for the originality of its UX design that carefully considered issues of the information technologies and urban regeneration.
The iF Design Award is reputed as one of the world’s three most prestigious design awards - others being the Red Dot Design Award and the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). Since 2014, Professor Seung Hun Yoo and his team from KU School of Art and Design have won a series of awards from such world-class design competitions.
