QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018 (Announced on March, 2018)

QS releases world university rankings in 48 subjects (majors) within five academic disciplines—Arts & Humanities, Social Science & Management, Engineering & Technology, Life Science & Medicine, and Natural Science. QS University Rankings by Subject lists up to 500 rankings for each of 48 subjects. KU was ranked in the top 100 in 22 subjects (top 1-50 in seven subjects; top 51-100 in 15 subjects), placing itself in the top spot among Korea’s comprehensive private universities.

QS Asia University Rankings 2018(Announced on October, 2017)

In order to collect data for the rankings, a total of 426 universities in 16 countries, including Korea, China, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, are assessed. In Korea, 47 universities are subject to the university assessment. Korea University has shown a steep increase in the following criteria: papers per faculty (up 12 places from previous year) and the proportion of academic staff members qualified to PhD level (16 places higher than last year).

QS World University Rankings 2018(Announced on June, 2017)

According to the QS World University Rankings 2018, released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the UK agency that rates universities around the world, Korea University ranked 90th on the global universities list and topped the list of private universities in Korea – the highest rank in its history. Last year, the university ranked within the top 100, a first for domestic private schools, allowing it to achieve its mission statement of entering the top 100 world rankings that it declared back in 2005.The rating agency evaluated the performances of approximately 4,000 universities in the world according to the six metrics. In terms of the “Academic Reputation” metric, Korea University ranked 90th, positioning itself as a university recognized by the global academia. The university took 66th place in regards to the “Employer Reputation” metric that was based on the survey responses from employers. This proved that KU graduates have shown outstanding performances in their social career and that the university’s effort to nurture pioneering intellectuals has come to fruition.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (released on August, 2016)

KU was ranked 188 in the Shanghai Ranking. Major factors behind the climb were high performance indices regarding the number of highly-cited researchers (+5.8) and the number of articles published in SCIE/SSCI journals (+1.5).
