The Korea University Ice Hockey Team wins its 4th consecutive victory in the National Sports Festival.

The Department of Sports Science is established in the Division of Science of the College of Science and Engineering, the Department of Agricultural Management in the College of Agriculture is renamed as the Department of Agricultural Economics, and the enrollment capacities for the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Architecture in the College of Science and Engineering are raised. As a result, the university’s total enrollment capacity increases to 6,420 students.

The Research Institute for International Trade is founded; Lee Jun-beom is appointed as its first director.

Kim Sang-Hyup is inaugurated as the 6th president.

The Chairman of Lucky Group (LG), Koo Ja-gyung, donates KRW 20 million to fund the construction of school buildings.

At least 30 military personnel assigned to the Capital Defense Command invade the Anam Campus and illegally arrest 5 students (5 October).
Armed military personnel enter seven universities in Seoul, including Korea University, arresting and detaining over 1,800 students.
Ideological student clubs such as the Korean Thought Research Society and Hanmaekhoe are forcibly disbanded.

The Korea University Foundation assumes control over the Woosuk School Corporation, incorporating Woosuk University and its affiliated institutions.

Korea University celebrates the construction of its new Main Gate.

In the College of Medicine, the Department of Medicine and its premedical courses and the Department of Nursing are established. The Department of Chinese Language and Literature is established in the College of Liberal Arts. Within the College of Science and Engineering, the Department of Home Economics is established in the Division of Science, and the Department of Ceramic Engineering in the Division of Engineering is renamed as the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

The Museum stages an exhibition Joeuisasokdo (朝儀士俗圖) in celebration of the 67th Anniversary.

The Business School Building is built.

Korea University is temporarily closed (for 45 days) and the Ko-Yon Games founders upon the proclamation of martial law by the president of Korea.

The Ministry of Education selects Korea University as an Experimental Research Driven Institution.

The Institute of Educational Research is founded.

The College of Education is established, leading to the reorganization of the Department of Education in the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Sports Science and the Department of Home Economics in the College of Science and Engineering into the Department of Education, Department of Physical Education, and Department of Home Economics Education under the College of Education.
The Department of Industrial Management in the Division of Engineering of the College of Science and Engineering is renamed as the Department of Industrial Engineering, and the enrollment capacity for the Department of International Trade in the College of Commerce is increased.
The Institute of Viral Diseases, the Institute of Environmental Medicine and the Institute of Tropical Endemic Diseases are founded.

Korea University and Waseda University sign a Student and Faculty Exchange Agreement.

The German Studies Institute is founded.

Korea University and University of Washington sign an Academic Exchange Agreement.

The Long-term Plan for the Development of Higher Education of Agriculture is finalized upon reception of grant aid from West Germany. The agreement between the Korean government and the West German government enters into force as of 9 July 1974.

The Graduate School of Education introduces Winter/Summer Intensive Programs.

The Department of Russian Linguistics and Literature is created under the College of Liberal Arts.
The enrollment capacity is raised for the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Division of Engineering of the College of Science and Engineering, the Department of Physical Education in the College of Education, and the Elementary College of Medical Practice affiliated with the College of Medicine.

The Elementary College of Medical Practice affiliated with the College of Medicine is relocated to Jeongneung Branch Campus.

Korea University is forced to temporarily close as per the 7th Presidential Emergency Measure (until 13 May).

Professor Lee Ho Wang and Director for Research Lee Pyung Woo at the Institute of Viral Diseases, become the first in the world to isolate the pathogen and immune agent for Korean hemorrhagic fever.

Korea University establishes Korea’s first Department of Forensic Medicine.
