On September 19 and 20, the annual Ko-Yon games took place in Jamsil in Seoul, as well as in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Korea University took the overall title by winning in baseball, basketball, and ruby. The all-time series now stands at 21 wins, 11 draws, and 20 losses in Korea University’s favor. The games were charged with an electric atmosphere, created not only by current students but also by alumni who traveled from across the globe to don crimson once again. The spirit was further ignited by “Dolpung,” the Class of 1995 alumni cheering squad celebrating their 30th anniversary. Together with the entire KU community, their passionate support set the autumn sky ablaze. This fierce yet joyous clash between the two eternal rivals did not end with the final whistle—it carried on late into the night with spirited post-game celebrations.

Jung In-ah (Class of 1980, Department of Mathematics Education | Vancouver, Canada)
“We’re a couple who met at Korea University and now live in Canada. After attending the Ko-Yon Games together in 1981, this is our first time back in 44 years. I’ve always been proud of my days at Korea University, and I hope younger alumni feel that same pride.”
Sung Wang-pyo (Class of 1959, Department of Political Science and International Relations | Los Angeles, USA)
“Except during the COVID years, I’ve come almost every year. The Ko-Yon Games are much more spectacular now than when I was a student, and the cheering is especially impressive. I’ve lived my life guided by the spirit of liberty, justice, and truth that I learned at Korea University, and I hope that tradition continues.”
Jang Myung-sun (Class of 1972, Department of Nursing | Atlanta, USA)
“This was my first time attending since graduating. There were so many new cheers, and I practiced them on YouTube, but it wasn’t easy. Alumni from overseas truly cherish this event. To the Korea University athletes who gave it their all—thank you so much.”
