KU Professor Jae-Seung Lee selected as Jean Monnet Chair
In recognition of his research achievement in European politics and economics, Lee was awarded the lifetime chair.

Professor Jae-Seung Lee at the Division of International Studies, Korea University, was selected as Jean Monnet Chair Professor by the European Union.
Jean Monet Chairs are chosen among scholars who demonstrate outstanding achievement in European studies in commemoration of Jean Monnet, first president of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), who is known as a pioneer of European integration. Professor Lee received the award in recognition of his research achievements in European politics and economics as well as his active participation in both academic and policy-making areas.
As the lifetime chair, Lee will hold lectures and conduct research under the theme of ‘European Union and Peace-Building in East Asia.’ He will also be taking a leading role in conducting global projects including the publication of a digest of Korea-EU relations and hosting of Nordic-East Asia Peacebuilding talks.
Professor Lee served as Director of the Nordic-Benelux Center at Korea University and President of the Korean Association of European Political Studies. In 2008, he was selected as a Young Leader by the InterAction Council, an organization that brings together former world leaders.
