Official Korea University shop Crimson store donates a portion of its 2016 profits for the KU students
Crimson store joins KU PRIDE CLUB for its contribution to scholarship funds and the development of KU
KU Mirae Co.,LTD., a profit-making sales corporation affiliated with Korea University (KU), has donated 20 million KRW of a portion of its 2016 profits, derived from the official Korea University shop Crimson Store, to KU PRIDE CLUB. This furthers its mission “to contribute to KU’s educational excellence and reputation for the benefit of its students and of 300,000 alumni and future KU family members.”
Crimson Store, the official KU shop founded in September 2015 to celebrate KU’s 110th Anniversary, is located on the first floor of the Centennial Memorial Samsung Hall (Seoul Campus), and produces and sells souvenirs which incorporate KU’s logo and other related images. It is also a sales channel for the inventions and patented products of students, faculty members and KU alumni, as well as other quality items.
“Crimson Store was founded with the aim of contributing to the KU development fund and of supporting excellence in KU students, which is why we have decided to donate a portion of its 2016 profits to KU PRIDE CLUB,” said Soo-Won Kim, CEO of KU Mirae Co.,LTD.. and Professor Emeritus at the School of Electrical Engineering. As “a benchmark enterprise for other universities” as Kim puts it, Crimson Store also runs an online shopping mall thanks to which “it has reached break-even point earlier than expected.”
KU PRIDE CLUB is a fund-raising campaign in which anyone can take part by donating as little as 10,000 KRW. It funds Exchange Student Program Grants and Living Expenses Grants for students from underprivileged backgrounds, and the Creativity Development Program.
