Business School earns its fourth consecutive AACSB accreditation

Became first in Korea to receive AACSB accreditation for all degree programs in 2005

All college, graduate school and MBA programs accredited for the fourth consecutive time

The Korea University Business School earned a five-year Business Accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) for the fourth consecutive time.

In 2005, Korea University Business School became the first university in Korea to receive AACSB accreditation for all undergraduate, graduate and MBA programs. It successfully maintained this status in 2010 and 2015. Having earned its fourth consecutive AACSB accreditation, the Business School has demonstrated its competence as a leading institute in Korea and on the global stage.

The AACSB is a nonprofit association founded in 1916 by the deans of business schools in the United States. The international accreditation is issued to top business schools that meet strict standards set by the AACSB. Yale University, Columbia University, Boston University and UCLA are among the world-renowned universities with AACSB accreditation. As of January 2020, AACSB accreditation has been awarded to 862 schools in 56 countries.

To extend AACSB accreditation, the AACSB review team visited the Business School from November 10 to 12, 2019, and conducted a comprehensive review of the school’s faculty, credit system, curriculum and research achievements. The review team applauded Korea University’s efforts to deliver personalized education in response to the needs of the times, and was “very impressed by the new Business Analytics program to be offered within the Department of Business Administration from 2020.” Other strengths of the Business School recognized by the review team included not only its faculty, students and curriculum, but also the achievements of the KUBS Startup Station over the past five years, Digital Transformation, and the Business for Society Project with SK.

Jae Wook Kim, Dean of the Korea University Business School, said, “Korea University Business School is the only institute in Korea that has received AACSB accreditation for all college, graduate school and MBA programs for the fourth consecutive time. We will do our best to solidify our position and join the ranks of the world’s top universities.”

In 2019, Korea University Business School was ranked first in the list of colleges picked by the HR personnel of the top 300 Korean companies for the 12th consecutive year and first among MBA programs in Korea for the seventh consecutive year (Hankyung Business). In the same year, it was reported as accounting for the highest proportion of Korea’s top 500 CEOs among single college-level departments (CEO Score Daily). In the Executive MBA Ranking 2019 (Financial Times), it was ranked the world’s 27th and Korea’s first for the ninth consecutive year.
